Activating a Credit Card
Hello,

Quick question about activating a credit card. A few weeks ago I applied for two credit cards. Well, due to some other financing that was able to obtain, I no longer need these credit cards. However, the credit cards both came in the mail about a week ago, and my question is, do I need to "activate" these cards even if i do not intend on using them. If i activate them, i will just end up cut up the credit cards and keeping them at a zero balance. I didn't know, will these two cards show up as an "open line" of credit on my Credit Report even if i do not activate them?? Any suggestions on whether I should activate them or NOT activate them and cut them up and throw them away. Thanks!

I thought I saw this on another thread. However, you can't waste time. Do your cards carry an AF? If you don't activate them and they do, you may be assessed the fee and will have to pay. If you keep them, use them periodically for a pack of gum or something and PIF. Inactivity can cause them to be "closed by grantor".
