ATM charges

My Dad has a credit card and every time he uses the ATM the bank charges him an amount of money. Are there banks that do not charge for the ATM service? or at least, a bank with a cheap fee?

My bank 1st Mariner Bank in Baltimore doesn't charge if you are using their ATM's, but they do charge a fee for POS (Point Of Sale) purchases. I think most banks do offer that service. It's the ATM's that even though they are in the network, charge a fee that is anywhere from $1.50 to $2.00. I just keep track of where my banks ATM's are located and stop off there if I need cash.

so you are saying that most of the banks will not charge me as long as I use their ATM's from their network? But if I use other banks ATM, I will get charged right?

Yep. if you use it with their machines or network, your safe of extra charges. However, if you use it on a machine not in that's network or company, then my friend extra fee's will be charged sadly...

Generally, you get charged for using your card at other machines.

Well, will the charges be more when we withdraw from ATM's abroad? or they will be the same?

hmm I'm not sure. Usually when people go aboard they use a CC. I would never use a debit or ATM abroad ever. CC is the safest when traveling..

Compass Bank, located in many of the southern states, refunds fees from other bank's ATMs.
