Signature = "Ask for ID" ??
Hey everyone,

While working in retail, I often encountered credit cards with "Ask for ID" on the back. I always did and the person always presented appropriate ID. So when I got my new Chase FREEDOM card, I did the same thing. I wrote "Ask for ID" on the back.

On average, 99% of people don't even check it. 1% of people ask for ID. Which is great, but...I recently went to the post office and the guy wouldn't accept my card (even with ID) because he said they don't accept anything without a signature on it. It sucked.

Has anyone else been denied their card because it had "Ask for ID" on the back?

No, I have never been denied. I don't see how he was able to deny you, doesn't your license have a signature on it? This has me curious now...

the guy at the post office was a idiot. All the signature on the back is there for is to compare it with the one you write on resit.

None of my cards have anything on the back.
