Closing Date vs. Due Date
I would think all credit card companies would be required to get a mailed statement to the card holder somany days before the due date.

A card I have had for a short time gets the statement to me and for recent months I need to mail a payment within 1 week. I receive the statement 10 to 12 days after the closing date. Are there any rules the credit credit card companies have to following with the dates and deadlines ?

I don't believe there are any rules on this but, some credit cards will let you change your due date -try that and keep us updated!

Pay online... do not just pigeon mail... checks are outdated and bothering.

Regarding changing due dates... I have no idea... just call them and discuss it.

Paying online is the way for me. Didn't know the due date could be changed nice to know.
10 to 12 days after the closing date is ridiculous.

The new requirements - unfortunately only effective in July 2010 - mandate that the time between statement cut off date and the payment due date to be at least 3 weeks - 21 days including Saturdays, Sundays and any holidays that month..
However there are no requirements mandating that customers see any postmarks/dates on the envelopes. Banks can sit on those statements for days and days, and claim/lie that they were sent out on a specific day.
