I would think all credit card companies would be required to get a mailed statement to the card holder somany days before the due date.
A card I have had for a short time gets the statement to me and for recent months I need to mail a payment within 1 week. I receive the statement 10 to 12 days after the closing date. Are there any rules the credit credit card companies have to following with the dates and deadlines ?
The new requirements - unfortunately only effective in July 2010 - mandate that the time between statement cut off date and the payment due date to be at least 3 weeks - 21 days including Saturdays, Sundays and any holidays that month..
However there are no requirements mandating that customers see any postmarks/dates on the envelopes. Banks can sit on those statements for days and days, and claim/lie that they were sent out on a specific day.
