Know your FICO score.
Something all American consumers should do is obtain their credit reports.
There are three major bureaus to obtain them from. If you get a copy from each bureau, you'll get them free once a year. It's the law.
Once piece of information that is not mentioned in your credit reports is your FICO score. Your FICO scores can help determine a few important things.
You can get your FICO score at myFICO.com

Any one who goes out looking for their scores make sure you get FICO scores and not FAKO.

No, I've not seen one. There are ways to obtain free FAKO scores. If you have a WAMU product you can get it depending on the offer you accepted.

If you just want to know where you stand I quess FAKO will do. If you're looking for a mortgage, etc., better know your FICO.

FAKO scores? Would there even be a point in retrieving my score?

The problem with FAKO is that there is no way to know with certainty how it correlates with FICO. Some people report it’s right in line, others way off. I guess it’s just a false sense of security.

No wonder they call it FAKO.

It helps to know all your credit scores FICO and FAKO (TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian) scores. You never know which score a lender is going to use. Some pull FICO, some pull individual FAKO, some average FAKO. It varies.
