Double posting issue
I experienced a case wherein the same item I purchased was posted in two different cards. This happened when I made a transaction over the phone. According to the retailer, my transaction with my first card was rejected while that of the second card went smoothly. The receipt issued to me indicated the completed transaction with the second card.

It has been a year and the double posting issue has not yet been settled. I don't want to double pay. It appears to be a merchant and credit card provider issue. But these two parties make me suffer because my first credit card has already been blocked. Can I sue them?

Pressing submit button twice sometimes happens
I've had similar issue when using an online purchase and I guess I was impatient or unsure if the transaction had gone through, but I hit the submit payment button a second time and winded up with a duplicate charge. I contacted them immediately and this was resolved within 7 days and I did not receive a duplicate order of merchandise.

Double posting issue
I've had an issue before where I was charged a fee for a service that I never ordered. It took some persistance with pushing my bank and the bank pushing the merchant. I told my bank, in writing, that I did not order this service. After several attempts on my banks part, my bank told this merchant, out of Australia, that they were rejecting their charge and they would not be getting any money. The merchant finally left me and my bank account alone.

Can you sue them? No. But you can fight the charge and put in a dispute with your credit card issuer. Your card issuer should follow up with a dispute that you file. If that doesn't work I would ask for a manager or someone higher up. If they refuse you can turn them into the Better Business Bureau.

If you have something showing bad on your credit history send them a letter explaining what happened and documented facts. They will review it.
