OK, here's what happened...
Alrighty, here's the scoop.
My family and I were living in Louisiana. When we got the credit card(s) we paid them on time with no problem.
Then I acquired a job in Oklahoma.
So we had to move. I moved prior to my wife and kids to search for a home. We found one, we paid the earnest money and the deal fell through, there goes a $1000. OK, so we keep looking, any money we had to pay for hotels and such... went toward that house that we didn't get. So, what do we have... I have to live somewhere.. hey, let's use the credit cards...
Obviously, we racked them up pretty quick. Reached the limit on one... two...three and finally our fourth... and the.... dun dun dun... job ended... had to find another job... found one three weeks later, making less pay.
So, I gritted my teeth and travelled back up to Oklahoma and started working again. But after two weeks of living in a hotel, I find a place to rent. Worked out a deal to pay part of the money for rent through out the month. It worked out. So, we finally found ahome within our budget. Paid only $500 for earnest, and we were blessed enough to be able to pay that and fudge on other things, during this time my wife and kids were going hungary, she was offered a fifth credit card, so we did. Now we have five credit cards all maxed in a matter of 4-5 months. What else were we supposed to do? I couldn't move back to Louisiana due to no jobs being available for my industry of work. I also had to take out a loan in order to pay for two weeks of hotel use.
Anyway, all that plus the cost of moving... really put us behind... trying to catch up on credit cards and other bills... we were late for our 2nd mortgage payment. Whcih we are finally catching up to... Just for reference... we moved back in August of 2007. So we are coming up to our first income tax in which is around half of what we are in debt. So, to maximize the amount of debt paid off, how can we make this to where it will work out to get the most paid off.
As you can see not trying to get anything for free... I am actually working to take care of this and no longer be late or anything, in which prior to all of this we had no credit cards and no debt other than out mortgage and car payment.
BTW, Bahamut, I would probably try not to be as 'frank' when you meet someone for the first time. Situations are different for each person. They are almost never the same. In my case I had to move for a better life for my family, not simply because I wanted too. And as for the credit cards, how else was it supposed to happen? And no, our families do not have the financial background to assist in something like this in other than assisting with their time... in which did happen with the move. That only cost us around... $600.
God bless,
Johnathan

Eph. 3:20 - 21
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us [Holy Spirit], unto him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus [body of Christ] unto all generations for ever and ever. Amen.
