Need some advice!
Hi everyone, thanks in advance for trying to help! I'm a college student, about halfway through school. When I opened my bank account with Bank of America, they asked me if I wanted to apply for a credit card. I said NO! About a month later, I receive a credit card in the mail. Not an application, a ready to use card. Being the broke hungry student I was I used the card to pay utilities and food. Before I know it I'm $5,000 in debt and my payments keep going up and up and up. I believe I'm at around the 24% interest mark. I'm not trying to be a freeloader, I've done the math and I've paid them much more than I've borrowed already. Does anyone have any advice on how to get this under control? I never signed ANYTHING in regards to this credit card, and the bank tells me there is nothing they can do to help me out. I haven't purchased anything in almost a year and this card is STILL maxed out. They just keep finding ways to fee me back up to the limit. I live, and opened the account, in Texas.

Scotthew,

You Should Have Just Cut It Up When You First Got It. Since You Used It Then It Is Your Responsibility, You Are Expected To Pay It Back. The Only Thing I Could Suggest Is Try Opening A New Card With A 0% Interest Rate And Transfer The Balance To It And Pay It Off That Way Then Just Cut Them Both Up..do Not Close Them As That Will Hurt Your Credit Some..

Good Luck..
