Deceptive Credit Card Practices
I'm having a problem with Applied Bank, I believe they were formerly called Cross Country. I'm not the only one. I have found many complaints from people having the same problems I'm having. Every month I am charged for cash advances and purchases I have not made, I am not using that credit card anymore. I am being charged finance charges for these advances and purchases. I am being charged over the limit fees every month no mater how much my payment was. They charge enough fees and finance charges to make it over the limit. One month I was charged $110 finance charge in order to boost my balance over the limit so they could charge me an extra $32.
I am disabled and living (or trying to) on Social Security, I can't afford this. Who can? Apparently, most of the people being ripped off are low income. I have already been ripped off by identity theft, I applied for this card to "rebuild my credit" as they promised. I'm tired of getting taken to the cleaners.

I am thinking seriously of collecting as many complaints as I can, besides mine, and turning them in. Do you think I have a case. This happened before and they changed their name and now they are doing it again. But maybe this time they can be stopped. Who do I go to with this? Do I hire a local lawyer? I made a complaint with the BBB. I'm prepared to go all the way to the FBI if I have to. I can get a lawyer free in my state.

If the lawyer is free then I would say go there and atleast get recommendations. I DO know I would cancel that card and cut it up for sure!!

Send a message via Yahoo to finvix
if you collect all the complaints and go to a local lawyer, he may say yes to work for you for absolutely free. as these lawyers also want a huge percentage of the total chunk of money they can get you form these big CC companies!

That was the same thing that citibank did a few years ago. They lost in court and now if you have a citibank account from 2006 or before with more than $1750 on it, there is no legal obligation to pay it back (though they try to not tell people that).

Not so fast. Don't forget that most credit card contracts have an arbitration clause. Either party (which usually means the bank) can elect arbitration and you know who wins 99% of those, right? Usually you waive your right to join a class action suit as well. Citibank lost once, they won't lose ever again with that arbitration/no class action clause in all your contracts with them.
