Free merchant accounts are out there, however they usually are reserved for the highest volume merchants. When a company offers you a free merchant account, rest assured that you will pay.

Free machine deals are out there, however by getting one of these "free" items you are falling for the oldest trick in the book... the bait and switch.

Most of the major companies that offer these type of programs have a set-up fee and application fee just to get started. Ontop of that, you will most definately pay an annual fee.

Bottom line... nothing is free. You are only exchanging 1 buck you would pay now for 10 bucks you have to pay in the long run. Buy your machine and find a processor you can trust.

This post is quite interesting especially for the people that AREN'T experienced in the industry. Your question was "Is there such thing as free credit card processing?" The answer is no. There are over 550+ interchange types and those fees are passed onto you, as well as Visa and Mastercard passing the assessment fees. Look up what interchange is on google.
