AARP-Chase money makers
I have been unemployed for 8 weeks.
In the past 6 years having a card issued by Chase in the name of AARP,
I have paid off the balance monthly.
I called Customer Service the 1st of December advising them of my
employment position. Asked if there was a Account Protection program available to join. Yes, there was if I signed up for it years ago, but not now with an existing balance.
All I wanted was the Finance charges to stop and give me time to pay off an outstanding balance, " Oh No ", we can't do that!

Bank of America and American Express have done that for me.

Any hints from the forum to keep my temper down?

Chase is a prime lender that only likes to deal with prime customers. They're really tough.

Amex has special programs but may blacklist you if you participate.

Hi thswldo, Your timings are very bad and the way you are trying to stop your interest payments will just not fly. Just think that you are trying to buy the insurance after the incident has occurred.

Your best bet will be to borrow money from a friend or family member to pay it off and then when you are employed next time, buy the insurance, also make sure to read the insurance fine print as all kind of job losses are not covered.

Good luck.
