chase credit card company lies so don't trust them
I have had a chase credit card for years and I have made all my payments early and paid more than minimum. I have good credit and my scores fall into the 700's. When I first was offered Chase at a fixed rate of 8.99 I was leery so I called them to ensure that this was not intro offer and that my rate would stay at the 8.99 fixed. They stated as long as my payments were made on time and I was not over my limit that it would never change. Well Chase lied big time. Last night I had gotten a notice in the mail stating that my terms were changing from my 8.99 fixed to a 22.49 variable, I was shocked, so of course I called them. Why do you think they decided to change my rates, not because of my great credit or payment history, that had nothing to do with it but because I have to much open credit. In otherwords if I wanted I could easily take out over 20000 in my credit cards because they keep increasing my limit (but I don't). This however to them makes me a credit risk. Of course I was and I had them cancel my card immediately. I also had my daughter cancel hers which she did. This company that I once swore by, I now know is just a big scam artist and would never recommend them to anyone again.

In my opinion the best thing you could have done is to pay off the credit card and keep the account open. This would help in boosting your credit score because a big factor affecting your credit score is how much credit you have available, once you close the card the credit available to you goes down as well.

They did the same to me so I transferred my balance. But as another poster stated, you did more harm than good by closing the account.

I was offered a 5.99% fixed rate in 2005 and then suddenly, with similarly assinine reasons, increased to 30.99% I paid off every dime but left the account open (for the credit record) and 100% unused. This only happens on occasion, but CHASE is the only company that ever did that to me, and once is too often.

Chase Credit Card Checks-Watch Out-Join Me
Having had a Chase visa card since 1993 without any problems I felt comfortable in using one of their 3.99% apr checks. The terms stated it would stay at 3.99 percent until the balance was paid off. I always make my payments online and several days before the due date. The due date has always been the 14th, 15th or 16th for the past 14 years. But now all of a sudden after using the low 3.99 percent check and having made the payments on time for 6 months they move the due date up to the 10th of the month. I'm on vacation I return on the 11th start to pay my bill online on the 12th and I notice the payment due date has been moved up four days earlier than it has ever been due. It's now due on the 10th, I am now late. Which means they can jack up the interest rate, big time. Is this a coincidence. I doubt it. Luckily I can afford to pay off the card (check loan). I have all of my statements for many years to back this up. Chase I have no doubt does this on purpose. I am looking for others who have had this happen to them. I have now contacted my elected officials in Washington and at their home offices. Am also considering other legal options-class action suit?

Good luck to you all! I think we all have our own preference for credit cards, we have bad and good experiences no matter who it's with..

Good Luck..
