Just take a look in this section to see the reviews of credit card companies.

Maybe try Capitol One or a local company for your first card.

I guess there is no such thing as best credit card company. The same company may be bad to you and good to others. I have credit cards from at least 10 different banks and all of them are really good to me, however there are a lot of people who had bed experiences with them.

You should get one of the Orchard Bank... Those guys usually help to increase your credit if you pay in time getting CLIs and such.

If your credit is excellent... I would give a try to Citibank.

The next following companies, pertain to GMEC Bank... that bank issues credit cards if you are in a good standing (I started with them with no credit history and now I have 4 with them)

Ikea
Old Navy - Banana Republic - GAP
Sam's Club
Paypal Buyer Credit

Those companies do business with GMAC and you'll probably get a CC with them (Do not apply to all of the at the same time... as it's the same bank...)

Good luck!!!

Btw.,.. robbjornstad... stop spamming. Thanks.

I've had some wonderful experiences with Capital One. I've had my account for a little over a year, and in that time I've received two credit line increases for keeping my account in good standing. This last statement I noticed there was an annual fee (there may have been an annual fee last year, just don't remember). I called C-1 customer service and asked about the annual fee. They gave me a choice of waiving the annual fee for the year, or lowering my interest rate. I chose waiving the annual fee. The customer rep then explained that every three months the account is reevaluated, and if I call back in a few months they will lower the APR. He also said to call once a year, and the annual fee can be waived upon request.
Their customer service is excellent and easy to work with.

I would highly recommend them, but apply for a card with no annual fee to save yourself the hassle of making that once a year call.

I agree, it would depend on you and your plans with the credit card to see which credit card is the best. Here is where I would start if I where you: Best Credit Cards Good Luck and please keep us updated!

I used to be in lending and was in charge of our financial institution's credit card dept also. Since that time, I've had a Capital One credit card and I am truly surprised at how poorly they treat their customers. I am apalled at how they use every opportunity to gouge their customers. I have never seen anything like it and I saw a lot of credit card issuers in my day. Even their rewards program is ridiculously bad-Chase gives me a $25. gift cert for every $2500. in rewards. Capital One gives me a $10. gift cert for every $4000. I spend. No matter what I do on this account, Capital One manages to absolutely go out of their way to be the greediest most dishonest credit card company I have ever seen. One time I paid my card two days early and they charged me a late fee for the next month. When I called and asked them to reverse the fee, they refused. I would highly encourage everyone NOT to use them. They are piranhas. Use your local bank or credit union and establish a relationship with them. I just cannot say enough negative things about Capital One. They are so borderline dishonest and deceitful-it's frightening. THEY are the reason the govt is going to crack down on credit card companies and deservedly so.....

It all depends on what your looking for. You have tons of options. You can save money on GAS, TRAVEL, and get CASH BACK when you use your credit card. It's all about finding the credit card that is right for you and your lifestyle.
