Everyone has different experiences with the different issuers.

If you travel abroad a lot, Cap 1 is still your best bet. The 0% FTF is the best. All other charge 3% except Amex which is 2%.

Capital One
Capital one is sometimes good to start with I guess.

Cheers.

A good friend of mine has made the same experiences like mathew. He also said that customer service at capital one is terrible and that he had to call several times until someone could help him with the issue he had.
He changed credit card afterwards and advised me not to get a credit card there.

Thank you matthew for the info. But my brother has been using capital one for a while now and he hasn't had any bad experiences with them yet.

I just signed up for a capital one card. I have not had any problems with Capital One so far. I've only had the card a couple months but I was approved instantly through the site and had the card in a week, so that impressed me. When talking to them on the phone I haven't had any trouble but I also haven't had to dispute charges (knock on wood). I'm suprised they gave you so much trouble since identity theft or incorrect charges are not something that is very uncommon now days.

Capital One is NOT honorable
I called Capital One in response to our 4.99% APR (listed as 'For Life' when we signed up 3 years ago) being raised to 12.9%. We were told (after transferring twice) that they had sent out letters in the beginning of September giving the option to Opt In to keep our low APR. BULL! I go through every piece of junk mail from the credit card companies. We usually don't keep a balance, but the last few months we have, and I surely would've Opted In had I received such a letter.

Needless to say their Account Specialist said there was nothing that could be done. She did suggest that six months we call them and request a review of our APR. All this despite the fact that we've never been late on a payment and our credit rating is great.

We're paying off the balance, redeeming whatever points we have, then cancelling that Capital One card.

No hassle huh? No honor either!

PLEASE NOTE: Prior to this greedy act on their part, we also had NO issues with Capital One... no telemarketers, and customer service was curtious and prompt. Now they're just like all the others.

The same exact thing happened to my mom, my brother and myself.
They really are just greedy. Plain and simple.
