HSBC Weekend Card? Yay or Nay?
Hey everyone,
Does anyone have the HSBC weekend card which supposedly gives you 2% cashback on all purchases made on Saturdays and Sundays? I read an old review that trashed it but I want a second or third opinion. It seems like a really creative idea and one that I would be interested in trying if I only knew a few other people that have had positive experience with the card.
Thanks for any and all feedback,
Cashback Karas

I myself do not have this card but, if you use a credit card MOSTLY on the weekends I would say HECK YA! I always look for credit cards with rewards that would benefit me. I hope someone who actually has the card will post their experience..

Never have had one so I can't say. I prefer the rewaed from my Amex Discover and Chase cards.

Why settle for a card that only gives you cashback on weekends, when you can get a card that gives you cashback on every purchase you make, everyday? There are many cashback cards out there without the weekend constraint.

not just 2% on weekends but 1% on all else
Seems hard to beat. I just got one after having Chase for 14 years. Chase would not refund a late fee that I didn't feel was my fault. I will allow such a bank as Chase to make money off of me. You'd think that they would consider the small fortune they make off of merchant fees and cut me a break, but no. I'll try to remember to follow up this post with my experience with HSBC.

This sounds like a good deal to me, especially if it pays 1% on all purchases no matter if done on the weekend or not.

Awesome, thanks vtox. I also am currently sticking only to my CHASE Freedom Card but I know it has limits on the 3% categories whereas I think the HSBC Weekend doesn't have limits on the 2% weekend cashback. I look forward to hearing about your experience with the card. Make sure to try purchases on saturday and sunday (even late sunday evening) to make sure they give you 2% for purchase date, not posting date.
Thanks,

Update 6/3/08
I have the HSBC Weekend Card in my hands with a $1K limit. Awesome. Now I guess I will finally get to answer my own question. I'm going to make my first purchase this Saturday to test the 2% cashback option. I'll let you guys know how it works.
So far, my review is good. It was easy to activate and after denying the Payment Protection Plan the third time (is this part of the script?), the woman accepted my refusal. Signing up for online payments took all of two minutes. It's ready to use but I'm going to only make weekend purchases with it this month to test the 2%. I'm going to make a few purchases on Sunday night too before midnight to see if they still get the 2%!
