Update 6/10/08
Hey Forum,

I didn't think I'd have an update ready for you this quick, and that's one of the reasons I'm so excited!!!

For those of you who don't know, I recently received the HSBC Weekend Card. Figures I received it on a Tuesday, haha. I eagerly awaited Saturday so I could try it out.

I bought some gas on Saturday night and some Panera on Sunday, both in the afternoon. In total, the transactions came to $51.95. So, in theory, according to the 2% rule, I'd get about $1.04 in cashback.

Well, I figured that on my first statement, I'd start seeing my cashback, kind of like with my Chase Freedom Card. Oh no. HSBC is much better. Get this - they update your cashback rewards total in REAL TIME!!! In other words, I haven't received my first statement yet, but my $1.04 (exact to the penny) is already in a column on the website entitled 'Current Rewards Balance.'

I'm so impressed. Other cashback rewards cards may have this REAL TIME rewards update, but I've never experienced it. Chase Freedom waits until your statement to tell you how much cashback you got, at which point you're usually disappointed because your top 3 categories are not what you expected...

I haven't tested out the non-weekend 1% cashback option yet but I really don't care to because my current plan is to use my Chase Freedom Card M-F and my Weekend Card on Sat and Sun.

This card must be a well-kept secret because I posted questions about it on various forums and almost no one who reads these forums has the card. I'm strongly encouraging everyone to get the card. My suggestion is to DELAY any purchase that you can (including online purchases and gifts for yourself) until the weekend because then it will reward you double.

So yeah, run don't walk to:

HSBC Weekend Credit Card ? 2% Cash Back Rewards

and get yourself one of these well-kept secrets now!

Yes, I'm a normal person who doesn't work for HSBC - I, just like the next guy, is trying to milk the system for all its worth :-)

Bahamut Question
Bahamut,

could you please tell me more about your orchard 2.5% cashback card as well as the "better one" than that? Just curious. I had heard about a 2% cashback orchard card but I understood it had an annual fee.
