AmEx "special" cards.

Does anyone have a black or red AmEx card? If so, how difficult was it to acquire?

I've wanted one for the longest time but I know you have to be invited...

The Centurion is by invitation only. In order to be invited you must have charged at least $250K a year on one of their products. Once you get invited you must pay a $5K initation fee. Once you pay that, then you have a $2,5K AF.

BTW, at least your not paying $7.5K for a piece of plastic. The Centurion is titanium.

Actually it's no longer by invite. You have to apply.

News to me. When did the change in policy take place?

BoA has started marketing co-branded Amex products of which one is black. These are marketed by traditional means and applications are circulated.

However, the Centurion (black) card issued by Centurion Bank, not Citi or BoA, requires a spending history of $250K a year prior to invite.

You need excellent credit history. That's pretty much it, then you need to apply but chances are you won't get accepted.

Not entirely correct. The $250K spending requirement is still in effect.

u need good credit history and u can get it by applying. its actually no longer by apply.
