Examine the card.
A great and simple way to prevent a chargeback is to carefully examine whatever card you're dealing with.

Make sure to check the expiration date and signature. Match the signature to an I.D.

When I used to deal with credit cards, people would refuse to sign the receipts. If this happens to you, decline the sale.

Customer's are always required to sign for their merchandise and provide a valid I.D. If they refuse, refuse the sale. Chances are something is wrong with the card provided.
