Bought a Ladder with My Husbands Discover Card
In the past, many years ago I had an account at Sears and Roebuck store and it was joint with my husband. In addition to that credit we somehow winded up with a Discover Card after making good payments on our washer and dryer. The Discover Card was just in husbands name and he sent me to buy a ladder one day and do you know that it got put in as a chargeback when my husband was contacted by Discover and he told them he did not endorse the purchase. This was an error and mistake on "our" part and it was rather embarrassing and made me look like some kind of crook. We winded up having to show up at the ladder place and pay some cash. I would NOT go in and do it, I made husband do it. I blamed him 80% for this. One of those rare occasions when the relationship jumped out of the 50-50 mode. This is the only time we had a chargeback on any of our credit cards and it was our own fault!

I hate to say that, but if your name ISN'T on the car and you use it.. it's ILLEGAL. If the CC company knew you did that or someone reports it, you could get fined or go to jail. That's called fraud, even if it's your husbands card. Yes, if you have a joint account that gives one card to the wife and the other to the husband, then your alright.

I've done this a few times with my wife. I usually don't send any chargebacks, because I ask her about the charges on the bill at the end of the month
