Credit Card application in the mail
If you're like me, you're always getting a bunch of cc applications in the mail.

Make sure you shred the ones you've thrown out. Theives can and will use old applications and use them to apply for cards in your name.

Tearing them up is really not enough. Make sure you shred them or even burn them.

Good advice. I've been tossing them in the trash can, not tearing or throwing them away. Don't the theives need your social security number to get a credit card in your name?

I just save them and then do a big bon fire every few months and throw them in... at the rate I get these things I don't even need wood to start the fire.

Credit card companies... please save a few trees and cut down on your direct mailers.... please!!!

Yeah I recently bought a shredder, my sister just got one because she saw some show and they were talking about this exact thing, people were looking through trash and getting personal info.

Apparently, they can get a card in your name with just the application. It's definintely not a good idea to just throw them away without shredding them up or completely destroying them.

Of course you can just follow the advice in this article and stop receiving offers altogether.

Stop Receiving Credit Card Offers

I have a shredder and I do that all the time, I sometimes put the shredded pieces into different bags and mix the contents so if someone were to take my trash they would have a hard time putting the pieces back together.

Thanks so much guys, i now realise what mistake i had been oing by throwing my credit card applications out in the garbage. I don't know if anyone has a credit card in my name or not. but, i'll be very careful now. i would prefer shredding all of those as suggested by you'll.

get a heck of a lot of credit card applications in the mail. A bunch for Visa, quite a few from Mastercard and tons of them from American Express. I almost always tear them in half and throw them away.
