Apply for a new credit card
Hi everyone, I'm a fourth year college student who needs some advice on applying for a new credit card. This is not my first time getting a credit card. I already have 1 Visa Student card with Bank of America with APR 15.99% ( current balance is 0 and I always pay the balance in full every month, 1 Visa Chase credit card with 13.99% (current balance is 0 and always pay full balance every month), 1 Master Card Citibank with 14.99% APR ( 500 balance and never late on payment), 1 Blue American Express with 10.99% APR ( 0 balance and never late on payment).
I'm still in school and currently unemployed. I needs to find a card that has 0% APR for the first 12 months so that I can spend it without worrying too much about finance charges in 12 months. However, I don't know if I still have a chance to get such card with low introductory rate because I already have 4 credit cards. Besides, the 0%APR, I also like to have a fair credit line around 3,000. Can anyone give me some suggestion on my situation? I was looking on Chase and Citibank, and they do have some cards offering 0%APR, but I don't know if I really have a chance of approval since I already carry their cards.
Please give me your advices. I don't really want to spend a lot with my current credit cards now because they all have high interest rates. Any input is greatly appreciated.

That always depends on your credit score.

Take advantage of the pre-approved letters. They are annoying, but they help to determine what can you get. Is really accurate.

Go ahead and check them. If you see free cc, with 0% introductory APR and they say, "Sustainable credit limit" go ahead to Citibank and apply for one. For sure it will be better that the pre-approved one and your chances to find what you are looking for... are hight.

If you do not get those in the mail... then I think it might be hard for you.

You can get that if you are within 730... Economy crisis is enduring a lot all this stuff...

I recommend you to get an identify theft and credit monitoring service. I use Citibank's. It's awesome. $12.95 / month (1st month free) And you get;

- 3 Bureaus Credit Report and Score.
- Identify theft with high insurance.
- Guidelines and how to improve your score, what can you get with your current score.

It has more stuff... but has a specific tool that I love. It has a "Credit Analyzer" were you can simulate scenarios. The last option is, "Create your own scenario"

It's cool because you can do whatever you want, however, it has a secret tool which is awesome. I do not need to be taught how to manage my credit, but in that tool, you can all you CC and loans, the outstanding balances and the credit limits. That really help to find discrepancies from other companies.

Good luck passionate!!

Keep us posted.

Thanks a lot for your advice, Bahamut. I've been away from home for a couple months, I don't really know if I've got any pre-approved letters lately. The Citibank, American Express cards I have right now are from pre-approved letters. I'll keep looking for what's best.

kittypooh, i am a college student as well, and i was having trouble getting a normal consumer card. I went to creditcardsmaxx.com and compared the student cards that were available. I chose the discover student card and got it in about a week. I did have to show them proof of enrollment. But there are a few good cards on creditcardsmaxx.com especially for students! Hope this helps!

You will find many credit card offers online. But before choosing nay of those make sure that cc suits your spending profile. You can compare credit cards to know which one is right for you.
