I guess I'm a fool
I received many CC offers once my score was almost perfect. I finally saw one that caught my eye and it was from my local Credit Union. This was last October and it was for 3.9%. I read the "agreement" carefully and it only mentioned an increase if I used it for cash. About 7 months later it jumps to 9.9%. I called my local CU and asked why. They couldn't give a good reason so I asked what my "agreement" stated. They told me it was non-existent. I was bummed. After thinking about the call for a few days, it just didn't make sense, so I called back and spoke with the same lady who said she could send me an example of what my agreement stated. It wasn't even close. Then I contacted the CU via email asking to see a copy of my "agreement" with the APR's disclosed. She immediately fired back my original agreement with only the side which showed my signature and personal info...she did not send the other side which showed the APR's. I communicated with her for several weeks getting excuse after excuse..., finally she told me she was sending me the other side of my agreement. What she sent me was a agreement for a Classic Visa and mine was a Platinum...not even close again!! I told her I needed to see my original agreement in person so she sent (after 2 weeks) the "original" to my local CU branch. I immediately could tell it was a color copy (with my magnifying glass) and to top that, the other side only had a partial of the Shumer/Disclosure..omitting any APR's. I felt like a fool..or at least they were trying to make me feel that way.
I wrote the CEO and he said he would get back with me. In the meantime I also filed a complaint with the Consumer Affairs Division. I just received a letter today stating that the "agreement" I signed was not a contract and once I signed the plastic card they sent to me, I was obligated to whatever they feel like doing. I don't recall them sending me any kind of disclosure with the card. The only thing that has any signature is the agreement I signed which states the card is a 3.9% card,...yet they have kept that information from me..and not only that, but they have falsified documents in order to make me go away.
What can I do?
